Kalvi40 is A Simple Digital Solution for Education at Rural Schools. For rural school students who do not have access to quality education, as they belong to below average income level families, Kalvi40 aims to provide relevant, interesting, lightweight content for students of Grades 3 to 8. Kalvi40 is a unique solution to facilitate the teachers and enable a digital classroom atmosphere for students belonging to Tamil Medium Government Schools and Adi Dravidar Schools through an educational mobile application. The application is designed in a way as to enable students understand each topic effortlessly and efficiently. The video lessons are in line with the Tamil Nadu Samacheer Syllabus. Kalvi40 is one of the very few programs in our country which focuses on providing content in regional language, free of cost, thus creating an equal opportunity for those students in Government schools. Government Adi Dravidar Welfare Schools are the least privileged sector with respect to Education. These schools are away from the city, not easy to locate from the map boundaries, and are located in the interior parts of villages. With the help of local officials, the Kalvi-40 team reaches the schools and renders their service.

FORTESS has partnered with Bumble B Trust, to deliver the Kalvi-40 program to 10 identified schools in Thanjavur district. Volunteer teams have visited the most deserving schools, to undertake the Implementation efforts, through procurement and installation of 40” LED Televisions (with pre-installed Kalvi40 mobile application) in the schools. This will enable students to experience the Digital classroom together, with the support of their teacher. Below is the tentative list of shortlisted schools:
