Venkataraman Ravi is currently the president of IIT Madras Alumni Association . He was the promoter and past secretary of PANIIT Alumni Club which has been renamed as PANIIT Alumni Industry Iinteraction Centre. He is also the CEO and Principal Consultant of Capricorn Consulting Centre, a boutique IT Strategy consulting firm in Chennai. He has been a Consultant and Advisor to CMC Ltd, a TCS subsidiary in developing their Banking and Financial services practice for over four years.
Ravi had an overall experience of 37 years in the IT Industry in India and abroad during which he was employed with Tata Consultancy Services (1973-84), Industrial Development Bank Of India (1984-94), Teyseer Group of Companies, Doha , Qatar(1994-1998), Bank Of Baroda (1998-2001) and Electronic Development Systems-EDS(2001-10). He set up the entire IT infrastructure both hardware and software for Industrial Development Bank Of India and Teyseer Group of Companies. He was responsible for converting Bank Of Baroda into a tech savvy bank and setting up off shore development centres for EDS India.
Ravi has a basic degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras and an MBA in Finance and Systems from IIM Calcutta. He is also a qualified banker with a CAIIB certification.
Ravi is settled in Chennai. He has two daughters Archana and Aditi who are settled in Bangalore and Chennai respectively.
